JOB DESCRIPTION – MATCH SECRETARY  

To be responsible for all arrangements for the friendly Inter-County matches as directed by the Hon Secretary.

 APRIL

Discuss dates with the County Secretary who will advise you of all EWBA dates (Johns Trophy and Walker Cup etc.) Make sure your proposed dates do not clash with anything (National Championships, County Competitions , etc).

Contact Secretary or Match Secretary of other County and confirm a date for the following year’s Friendly Match (these usually follow on from year to year on an alternate home and away format).  

When you have agreed all dates, confirm them with your County Secretary to enable her to complete the County Calendar .  

APRIL to JULY  

Receive and retain a list all applications from Badged Players who wish to be selected for County games (as printed in County Year Book).  

Take a list of applicants to the relevant Selection Committee meeting.  

Advise players of selection with the exception of players getting their first, second or badge games (these are notified by the Hon Secretary).  

If they are not playing in a Friendly Match liaise with Hon Secretary & Asst Secretary if they will be attending.  

MAY to AUGUST  

Attend Selection Committee meetings.  

AUGUST to SEPTEMBER  

Home Fixtures – Arrange suitable Clubs to host these (they must be able to seat approximately 60 for a meal). Get an idea of the cost for the meal and green fees if any. When you have confirmed clubs for home fixtures, send details to other County Secretary with a map and directions to the club.  

Away Fixtures – Book a coach, confirm cost and pick up times with coach company (At this stage you can only give them a County, the actual venues you confirm in January)  

You will receive a map and directions to the Club the away fixture is to be played.
